Aspartame is Safe: when conspiracy theories are louder than science

Just a few weeks after the official announcement of the draft opinion of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), according to which the consumption of aspartame is safe for the general population at the current levels of consumption (with the exception of people with the genetic disorder phenylketonuria), it is sad to see unsubstantiated negative media stories, or even “recycled” conspiracy theories that cause undue concern to the public, resurface.
